‘The Wand’ is a computer-controlled anaesthetic device that applies anaesthetic using a small, set amount of pressure at its working area. The sting is barely noticeable as the anaesthetic has already begun to flow.


This means that everyone can tolerate administration to the gums, including small children. The dose of anaesthetic required is greatly reduced.

Nitrous oxide

Nitrous oxide, or ‘laughing gas’, has been used in medicine for anaesthetic and pain relief purposes for over 150 years. The dentist administers the laughing gas using a special piece of equipment. An in-built mixer (‘flowmeter’) allows the dentist to tailor the dose of nitrous oxide. The mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen is then administered through a special face mask.
Just a few intakes of breath will leave you feeling light and relaxed. However, you never lose consciousness. You stay responsive throughout the entire treatment. Nitrous oxide is relaxing, reduces anxiety and suppresses the gag reflex or irritation when swallowing. After treatment, the effect dissipates after a little time and you’re back to normal. You don’t need to fast before treatment, either.

Yes, dental sedation using nitrous oxide is a very safe treatment method. It has been an everyday aspect of practice for many years in many countries: for instance, in the United States, where treatment with nitrous oxide is standard in most dental practices. Thanks to the high level of patient safety, this treatment method is also suitable for children.
